The Lady Nun Vows Revenge

The Silent 695

As soon as she finished speaking, she kicked Adeline hard away from the bedside.

"Adeline!" Dale turned pale with fright and immediately rushed forward.

But to his shock, Sophie grabbed the bedridden Caleb and hauled him up in front of her like a shield. Her right hand clawed forward, plunging straight into his back.

It was as if she had caught something inside. Caleb's face twisted in agony as he let out a blood-curdling scream.

Caleb arched violently, his scream tearing through the air.

"Caleb!" Dale and Adeline cried out.

Dale held onto Adeline, eyes sharp and furious as he glared at Sophie. "Let him go! If you harm him, we will never forgive you, even in death!"

"You think you can threaten me?" Sophie scoffed disdainfully. With a violent jerk, she yanked her right hand out of Caleb's bloody back.

And in her hand, there was clearly something clutched.

Adeline and Dale nearly lost it, thinking Sophie had just ripped out their son's heart. They almost charged toward her.

But upon closer look, they realized Sophie hadn't pulled out a heart, but rather a small insect, about the size of a finger.

"It's a parasite! This woman implanted a parasite in our son!" Adeline reacted quickly.

Still, they didn't feel relieved.

Because after Sophie's brutal move, Caleb, who was barely clinging to life, now seemed completely drained of vitality.

"Dad... Mom...." Caleb reached trembling hands toward his parents, his lips parted as if trying to speak.

But not a single word came out. His gaze faded. His body went limp and fell to the floor.

He hit the ground with a heavy thud.

"Caleb!" Adeline screamed in anguish. No longer caring about the danger, she broke free from Dale and threw herself toward Caleb.

That very moment gave Sophie her opportunity.

Sophie sneered. "Old hag, your time is up!"

The King Parasite in Sophie's hand wasn't exactly an insect.

Eliza, who had been watching closely, noticed the details. From its appearance and abilities, it looked more like a chameleon.

It could completely hide its presence. No wonder it had been lurking in Caleb's body for so long, nearly unnoticed even by

Vexara.

Though Vexara had eventually detected it, that was only because she was more powerful than the creature.

Had they not strengthened Vexara with that King Parasite last night, things today might've turned out very differently.

Eliza frowned slightly, thinking this over.

After reclaiming her King Parasite, Sophie didn't attack Eliza right away.

To her, everyone in this room was already doomed. It didn't matter who she killed

first.

So, Sophie chose Adeline as her first victim. She was saving Eliza for last.

Sophie ordered, "Go, eat her alive!"

With a command, the chameleon-like King Parasite shot out like an arrow, baring tiny sharp teeth as it lunged at Adeline's eyeball.

Dale shouted, "Adeline, look out!"

Dale saw the danger and lunged at his wife and son, trying to shield them with his own body. But he was a step too late.

The King Parasite had already reached Adeline's face. Its sharp teeth aimed straight for her eye.

At that critical moment, a smaller creature shot out from Caleb's head, as if launched like a bullet. It collided hard with the King Parasite and knocked it away just before it could bite Adeline.

"What was that?" Sophie was stunned and instinctively summoned all the parasites she had hidden in the room.

Instantly, the room was filled with the agitated, restless hum of countless insects.

The noise was so loud and chaotic that everyone inside felt physically ill from the sheer discomfort.

But what shocked Sophie the most was that the sound also affected her.

"What's going on?" Sophie was confused. She didn't know what happened to her parasites.

Logically speaking, all these creatures were hand-raised by her. She had the King Parasite in hand to suppress them, so no matter how they acted, they should never have turned on their master.

Sophie suddenly remembered something. Her heart lurched in panic.

She recalled what Rodrigo of the Soulbind Tribe had once told her. There was one rare situation, so unlikely it was practically unheard of. She immediately dismissed the thought.

All parasites would only go into a frenzy and even rebel against their master if a sorcerer or a King Parasite stronger than the original master and King Parasite appeared.

But in this room, there were only a few people.

Adeline and Dale were not possible, not even Caleb.

As for Eliza, she was trained in medicine and poison. Even at best, she was just some skilled toxicologist.

Besides, Rodrigo had said not just anyone could become a sorcerer.

Sophie had the Soulbind Tribe's bloodline. She was a natural talent in sorcery.

That was why she could reach her current level so quickly.

Eliza was an ordinary person, not of the Soulbind Tribe's bloodline. Even if she had some talent, she wouldn't surpass Sophie.

Sophie scoffed inwardly. She dismissed Eliza from suspicion.

That only left the ones outside the room.

"I've got it!" Sophie suddenly exclaimed.

She looked at Eliza with a smug expression, as if saying, "I've figured out your

trick."
