Rejecting The Alpha Twins (Regan)

My Twins Baby 120

Chapter 120 Chapter 120

Regan POV

I hum lightly beneath my breath, slowly packing things away in the nursery, feeling somewhat cheerful. I can feel the baby moving slightly beneath my hand as I press it against my slightly swollen stomach. Part of me feels a pang, unable to deny that I feel a certain hint of sympathy towards Isabelle who continues to lie in a coma while the baby inside of her continues to grow and develop at a normal rate. I blink and bend down, retrieving a blanket off the floor, carefully folding it, and placing it inside the small chest of drawers, running my hand over it with a wide smile. Everything is almost ready. The closer I get to giving birth the more excited I get. The boys are the same. I've never seen them so ecstatic. They are going to make excellent fathers, the both of them.

"Daddy's little princess" I whispered, shaking my head ruefully.

Both of my mates had been spoiling their daughter rotten, coming home with all sorts of things lately, from little pink onesies to small stuffed plush animals. The whole nursery was littered with them. I sighed and picked up a grey wolf, feeling the coarseness of its fur. For some reason it seemed out of place in the nursery, not quite fitting in with its other counterparts. I couldn't quite put my finger on why though. It just felt odd.

It's surprising that Xavier or Xander bought this one, knowing how much I dislike rough textures I thought frowning, especially considering they've both said they only want the softest and most luxurious things for their child, Maybe Alpha Jackson bought it? That would explain the difference in the looks of the wolves and the strange texture.

I went to put it down, placing it on the top of the dresser instead of the rocking chair and smoothing down my dress, feeling a little hot and bothered. Both Xavier and Xander had disappeared for the day, heading towards training and then checking out a clue to Heather Ramona's whereabouts as she was still at large. I, in the delicate condition I was in, had been instructed to stay at the pack house where it was safe. I sighed feeling slightly exasperated and straightened back up. I wasn't exactly made of china, but my mates were treating me as if I was. Part of me couldn't help but feel flattered by that though. At least they were showing how much they cared.

"Oh well, if they find Heather then they can devote more time to you and me," I told my baby, giggling slightly.noveldrama

Considering how much time they were already devoting to me and our child, I wasn't sure just how much more time they could possibly take out of their busy days.

I glanced out the window, frowning as I saw the clouds gathering in the sky and the darkness beginning to take over it. It looked as though it was going to rain. I knew that the twins would continue to train regardless, but still, it was enough to warrant concern. What if one of them got hurt or injured in the storm? I felt my breath catch and sat down on the rocking chair, yawning slightly. I was always tired lately. It seemed as though I could never get enough sleep. There came a slight knock on the door which startled me. I hadn't expected anybody to come up to the nursery while I was in here.

"Luna, I have a drink for you. You must be tired and thirsty by now" one of the servants or omegas called out suggestively. Strange. I hadn't summoned an omega, but I could not deny that my throat was parched and that I was slightly sweaty from all the chores I had been doing in the room. A cold drink right now would be heaven.

"Come in" I called out, rubbing my sore and aching back.

The door slowly creaked open. I paid it no attention, getting back to my feet and slowly walking over to pick up a small beanie that I must have dropped. I placed it neatly back in the drawer and turned around, only to see the back of the omega as she placed the tray with a glass and pitcher onto a small bedside table for me.

"Thank you" I exhaled, as she handed me a cup without looking over her shoulder "Sweet Iced tea" I cried out in delight.

The most delicious drink that could have ever been invented for pregnant women. My mouth salivated as I stared at it.

I had become addicted to the sugary sweetness of iced tea during my pregnancy and it was no secret that I was consuming quite large amounts in the pack house. My mates were endlessly casing me for it. I brought the glass up to my lips eagerly as the omega began to make her way toward the doorway before pausing.

Something about that omega seems familiar. I frowned as the te came to my lips. I sniffed, my brow creasing as a lightly pungent odor came to my nostrils. Certain scents tended to make me nauseous, but this was different. There shouldn't have been anything in the tea that would have set off my heightened sense of smell. I tasted a drop of the tea and tasted something bitter. Immediately recognizing that something was in the tea I dropped it to the floor and heard the cup break into a pile of tiny pieces. Liquid pooled on the rug. "Stop where you are" My voice is firm, my posture tense. "I don't know what you were hoping to achieve but you ruined your only chance. I know that tea was poisoned" I added with a growl.

Had the poison been designed to kill me, and my pups or to simply knock me out? I didn't know and I didn't care. What this woman had done was unforgivable. If Xavier or Xander were here they would have killed her already. I was almost at that same point. Pregnancy or no pregnancy, I was still capable of hurting another shifter, regardless of who they were.

Laughter filled the room. I stared in disbelief. The door was shut as the woman reached out and pushed it with her hand. My instincts screamed at me that this was a trap of some kind of description, but when I tried to mind-link my mates, I failed to be able to reach them, let alone speak to my wolf. What the hell was going on? The woman let out another laugh and then slowly began to turn, her eyes rising to meet mine.

I stiffened in shock. Impossible. How could she have made it into the pack house unseen? But the proof was right in front of my eyes. Heather Ramona was nowhere to be found, because she was standing directly in front of me. Her lips curved into a vicious smile as she regarded me, dressed in a maid's uniform, her eyes blazing with anger.

"It's been a long time Regan," she said, her voice soft and venomous "I've been waiting for the opportunity to catch you on your own."

"How did you get in?" I demanded icily.

She laughed. "A bribe, a servant's uniform, patience, take your pick."

"How did you know I was on my own?" I asked, glancing towards the doorway.

Maybe I could run past her before she could touch me. She smirked. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to tell you. I've had eyes on you since this nursery was built. Doesn't this wolf" she pointed at the grey one which had caught my eye before "strike you as odd? Like it doesn't quite fit in?" her voice was filled with amusement. "It has a hidden camera inside of it, watching your every move. I've been watching you for weeks" she hissed, "waiting for the right time. Waiting for your mates to leave you vulnerable, so that I can kill you, finally, without their interference."

"Heather, you won't get away with this" I spoke, my eyes still darting to the doorway.

"What's the matter, Regan? Can't shift?" she asked cunningly.

I started. She curved her lips. "That would be the wolfsbane coming from this incense I set up over here" she indicated "after I gave you the sweet tea. It only takes moments for you to inhale its scent in the air and breathe it into your lungs. You can't shift," she said with triumph.

"Neither can you" I shot back, as she nodded solemnly.

Both of us were at a disadvantage. We would have to rely on our human forms to fight. I had some experience defending myself but also had the baby to think about. She had the upper hand, which made me nervous. 09:03 Thu, Feb 13

"No" she agreed "but I don't intend to need it. You see, I only want you dead and if I have to take you down with me, that's the price I'm willing to pay" she breathed, hatred beginning to show in her eyes. Something told me that there was no reasoning with her. Heather Ramona had come to end things once and for all.
