Nora

Chapter 60

Chapter 60:.

Justin had a lunch meeting here at noon.

On the second floor of the Finest Hotel, the conference room was to the left and the restaurant to the right.

As soon as he stepped off the elevator, he heard the commotion at the entrance to the conference room. At first he didn’t pay much attention to it, but when he glanced around, he saw a familiar figure.

His footsteps stopped for a moment. When he heard the wait staff impatiently shooing them away, he frowned and said to Sean, “Let’s go take a look.”

It didn’t matter, the Andersons were, after all, acquaintances of the Hunters. The previous generation of the two families had been closely related; how could he allow others to bully and humiliate them?

Sean nodded. “Yes, sir.”

But just as he was about to approach, he heard that deep, clear voice say, “Wait a minute.”

Nora reached for her cell phone. Her thin, slender fingers tapped on it a couple of times and she opened her email inbox. Sure enough, there were a few invitations.

Being the most prestigious surgeon, the organizers of several conferences held in different countries were sending her token invitations.

Of course, the organizers of a formal conference like this one had also sent her one.

However, it took a little time for him to find the invitation in his junk mail….

At that moment, someone next to her spoke up. “Ms. Smith?”

Surprised, Nora raised her head and looked up: it was a woman who appeared to be in her early 30s. Her curly hair rested on her shoulders and she wore a formal business suit.

She frowned. After a moment’s hesitation, she asked, “Is that you?”

A displeased Tina York frowned. Evidently, they had already met at the hospital, but she pretended not to know her?

However, she had wondered why Justin had brought a young female doctor with him that time. After much ado, it turned out that she was actually from the Andersons.

The Andersons were gradually falling into decay day by day. They were relying solely on twenty-year-old formulas and selling drugs based on them. They must have been at the end of their rope and told that doctor to operate on Mrs. Hunt as a last ditch attempt, right?

Unfortunately, all that credit had gone to her instead!

At that thought, her displeasure quickly dissipated. She smiled and apparently said as a gentle reminder, “Everyone here is a distinguished individual. Since the Andersons haven’t received an invitation, if you make a fuss here, it won’t reflect well on you either…”

A single sentence from him caused everyone lined up behind to start speculating under their breath:

“Gee, I thought the Andersons had just forgotten their invitation, but the truth is they didn’t get one.”

“The Myers’ market share has expanded. Basically, now there’s no one to buy the Andersons’ drugs. jeez! To think they’ve been reduced to the point where they can’t even get an invitation anymore.”

“They can’t blame anyone else for that. What can anyone do if they don’t improve themselves? I’ve heard that pharmacies and hospitals that work with them have recently returned their products and switched to the Myers’.”

“…If I were them, I would have quickly slipped away with my tail between my legs by now. What are they still doing here?”

The speculation made Simon’s expression change again and again, he felt as if he had never been more embarrassed.

After Tina kept quiet for a while, he sighed and said, “You’re all here to have a good time today. If you just have to come in…. Uncle Simon, if you promise not to disturb the others, I’ll let you in!”

“We won’t disturb the others….” From the way he said it, it was as if they weren’t fit to be seen in public!

Simon felt as if someone had slapped him twice hard. Just as he became so enraged that he turned to leave, a cold voice said, “No, it’s okay.”

Nora looked coldly at Tina and said, “The Andersons get a lot of invitations, so it took me a while to find her and I ended up causing a little delay. Sorry, Uncle Simon and Aunt Melissa.”

He held up his cell phone and presented the QR code to the wait staff. “Can we go in now?”

“… This way, please!”

Only then did the three of the Andersons finally enter the banquet room.

At the door, Tina stood stunned. She remembered clearly that her professor had not sent an invitation to the Andersons. Had she remembered wrong?

Nearby.

Sean, who had taken a couple of steps toward the Andersons with the intention of helping them out of the embarrassing situation, was taken aback. Then, he looked back at Justin. “Looks like they don’t need help anymore.”

Justin, “…”

He had momentarily forgotten that that woman was Anti, so how was it possible that she didn’t have an invitation?

However, her “The Andersons get a lot of invitations” line sure was interesting.

Justin suddenly turned and started walking toward the conference room. The usually reticent man said, “I’m going to see if I get a chance to return the favor I owe.”

Sean, who was silently following close behind, was speechless.

Boss, you don’t need to explain anything! An explanation is no different than a cover-up!

However, as a professional secretary, Sean quickly reported the Andersons’ affairs. “… The Andersons can’t sell their drugs at all. If this continues, I’m afraid they will soon go bankrupt.”

Although Justin did not reply, he was quite thoughtful upon hearing the report.

All the service staff at the Finest Hotel knew their boss, so Justin immediately entered the conference room. The layout of the place was like a small banquet. Most of the male guests wore suits and formal shoes, while the women wore formal dresses.

Only that woman was dressed in a white T-shirt and jeans, but she was still attracting attention in the crowd.

Justin narrowed his eyes slightly and approached. As soon as he got close, he heard Melissa ask, “Nora, where did you get the invitation?”noveldrama

The young woman replied nonchalantly, “Oh, I was helping in the treatment of Mrs. Hunt’s illness earlier, wasn’t I? Although I wasn’t much help, Mr. Hunt was still quite kind.”

Indeed, Melissa misunderstood his words. “Oh, so Mr. Hunt gave it to you! I’m sure he wanted you to come and broaden your horizons too.”

Justin, “…”

That woman sure was using him as a scapegoat for everything, wasn’t she?

A mischievous smile suddenly formed on his lips and he said quietly, “Uncle Simon, Aunt Melissa.”

The three walking ahead immediately stopped and turned around. Seeing him, Melissa immediately said gratefully, “Thank you for inviting Nora, Justin. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to get in today.”

Justin glanced over and saw the girl awkwardly touching her nose awkwardly. But after that, she lowered her gaze quietly and calmed down. Those docile feline eyes lifted slightly, and she had a seemingly amused look on her face, as if she wasn’t the one lying now.

Her mental toughness was top notch.

In an equally amused manner, Justin replied, “You’re welcome.”

Simon’s purpose in attending the banquet was to sell his company’s drugs. When he saw a regular customer in front of him who wanted to return his merchandise, he was quick to say, “Justin, you guys go have a chat first. I’ll be back in a moment.”

After saying that, he started walking over.

A look of concern appeared on Melissa’s countenance.

Justin watched Nora out of the corner of his eye.

She had almond-shaped eyes and a small but high-bridged nose. Her lips, rosy and full, were very attractive.

For some reason, he suddenly thought of what Chester had said the day before: ‘You can have a daughter if you go with Nora.

A daughter…’

Suddenly he asked, ‘Miss Smith, what does your daughter look like, does she look like you?’

Nora glanced at her.

Actually, Cherry didn’t look like her. Seriously speaking, she bore a 70% resemblance to the man in front of her. Therefore, she replied, “No, she looks like her father instead.”

“Oh?” Justin suddenly became interested. “Do you have any pictures?”

Nora looked at him and replied, “Yes.”
