Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl

Chapter 1366

Chapter 1366

"If I hadn't been talking to Mister Richard, he wouldn't have hit the car in front. So, it's my fault. What if he doesn't wake up?" Darius was scared thinking about the accident.

Pearl, seeing Darius so upset, gently touched his hair to comfort him. "Don't worry too much, Darius. He's strong. He'll be okay."

"Really?" Darius looked up, his face wet with tears.

"Of course. Just rest here. I'll go check on him and come back," Pearl reassured him quickly and left, feeling relieved when she saw Darius was calmer.

Standing outside the emergency room, Pearl stared at the bright red light above her. It made her heart ache.

They had just gotten back together after overcoming many challenges. She couldn't let it all end because of this accident.

Pearl silently hoped for the best.

An hour passed... then three... seven... thirteen....

From eight in the morning to nine at night, Pearl couldn't relax.

Finally, the surgery was successful. When the red light turned off, Pearl sank into a chair, exhausted.noveldrama

Richard made it through but was taken to the ICU. He would move to a regular room once he was stable.

Relieved, Pearl decided to update Darius. She had been waiting all day, only leaving to get food.

But when she reached Darius' room, it was empty. Darius was gone!

Pearl panicked. She rushed out and bumped into a nurse holding a medicine tray. It was the nurse who had treated Darius that morning.

"Excuse me, do you remember the boy you treated this morning?"

The nurse remembered Darius well, having a good impression of both the boy and his mother. "Yes, what about him?"

"He's missing. Have you seen him?"

The nurse thought for a moment. "Maybe he's in the bathroom or went out?"

She remembered the boy as very calm. Most kids would cry and fuss, but he stayed still while she treated him, almost like an adult.

"No, I looked everywhere, but he's nowhere to be found," Pearl said, getting anxious. "He's a good kid. He wouldn't sneak off to play."

The nurse felt sorry for Pearl and tried to comfort her. "Don't worry. He's well-behaved, so he probably didn't go far. Let's check the surveillance footage in the monitoring room."

Pearl nodded and followed her to the monitoring room, only to find out the system was down.

"Why wasn't the system fixed immediately?" Pearl asked, frustrated.

"Ma'am, fixing a whole hospital's cameras isn't that simple. We have to report it and wait for instructions," the doctor responded with a shrug.

Pearl was upset with the doctor's indifference. The nurse, knowing the doctor's temper, pulled Pearl aside. "Don't take him seriously. He's always like this because his uncle is the hospital director."
