Chapter 165
This was Zayn's fight against Yvan. It had nothing to do with her-so why should she sacrifice herself, even her marriage, to help him?
Clearly, Zayn only cared about his own interests. But she wasn't foolish enough to let herself be used.noveldrama
"We're already divorced. None of this concerns me. My only priority is protecting my reputation. So, Zayn, I'll ask you one last time-are you going to clear things up or not? If you won't, I'll handle it myself."
Zayn gritted his teeth. "Josephine, the whole world is against me right now. I thought you were the only person I could count on—but in my darkest hour, the one standing by my side is Nadine, not you."
"What's so surprising about that? You two are in love-it's only natural for her to stand by you and take your side, isn't it?" Josephine sneered, but deep down, her heart twisted with jealousy, aching as if someone had it in a vice grip.
In the past three years, she had given so much. For everything he knew she had done, he should have been grateful for the rest of his life.
And yet, this was how he repaid her.
"I'll ask you one last time-are you going to tell the truth or not?"
Zayn's voice dropped to a cold, heavy tone. "Do you really have to push me like this?"
Josephine frowned, wondering who was really the one doing the pushing. Without hesitation, she ended the call.
Just as she was about to call Mason and ask if he had any countermeasures, her phone rang-it was Jaime.
"Ms. Dunn, congratulations! Your shares have all been sold!"
All sold? At a time like this?
Josephine tensed up immediately. "Who did you sell them to? Has the payment gone through?"
She doubted anyone could buy that many shares at once. Her plan had been to sell them to the existing Forbes Group shareholders, and she was still negotiating the terms with them.
Given the current scandal and Forbes Group's plummeting stock price, she had been bracing herself for the worst—even considering selling them to Joe at a discount.
Who would've thought Jaime actually pulled it off?
"I sold them to a big shot in the financial world-someone with deep pockets. He brought all the shares at full price in one go. And somehow, he even got all six major Forbes Group shareholders to agree Even Joe couldn't stop it."
Jaime continued, his voice filled with excitement. "The payment has already been processed, and the bank is transferring the funds. You should be hearing from them soon!"
How was this possible? Everything had gone through so smoothly-her shares were sold at full price, and the funds were already on their way.
It was an unexpected windfall.
Josephine's rage-sparked by the
statement posted on Zayn's
account-faded slightly. Curving her
lips, she said, "Thank you so muche
for handling this, Mr. Wells. In
addition to the agreed-upon commission, I'll also give you a bonus."
"Thanks, Ms. Dunn. But let's stick to what we've agreed on. Pulling off a deal like this is a major boost to my career, and honestly, I couldn't have made it happen if that big shot hadn't stepped in. I'd feel bad taking extra."
More importantly, Jaime had a gut feeling that the mysterious buyer knew Josephine personally. Clearly, she was the reason he snapped up the shares without hesitation.
Sooner or later, the connection between them would come to light.
If he tried to claim too much credit now, he might just end up looking like a fool. He wasn't about to risk offending two important clients over a little extra money.
As Jaime kept mentioning this "big shot", Josephine couldn't help but wonder- who on earth would be foolish enough to buy Forbes Group shares at a time like this?
With judgment like that, she figured he was probably just some rich, reckless heir.
What do you think?
