Chapter 1841
The control panel loomed before Melon, a bewildering array of switches and dials.
Without navigation or a clear signal, the boat drifted aimlessly, just as Moss had predicted.
Melons determination to steer the ship towards Eleymond crumbled with each failed attempt.noveldrama
His frustration mounted until a careless move sent the ship into a violent lurch.
The sudden motion flung him onto the cold wooden deck, his body shivering with fear and confusion.
Scrambling back to his feet, Melon clambered onto a chair, his small hands fumbling with the instruments.
After a few tense minutes, the ship steadied itself, resuming its journey across the waves Melon stared at the control panel, his breath ragged and eyes brimming with unshed tears.
The near-disaster replayed in his mind.
He and Moss had come close to being swallowed by the unforgiving sea just now. Melon backed away, pressing himself against the wall, no longer daring to touch the controls.
As the boat drifted, Melons gaze turned to the vast expanse of water surrounding it.
A torrent of worries flooded his mind.
Where would this journey take them? The cabins meager food supplies loomed large in his thoughts.
Would starvation claim them before they found land? With each passing wave, were they being carried further from Eleymond, making it impossible for him to ever see his parents and sister again.
Yet, despite these grim possibilities, Melon found himself oddly calm.
His recent ordeals had steeled him, fostering a tentative acceptance of his situation.
A flicker of optimism remained-he had escaped his villainous uncle and his henchmen, after all.
Surely fate wouldnt be so cruel as to let him perish now.
And his parents… They would never stop searching for him. This glimmer of hope spurred Melon into action.
He hurried back to the cabin, tending to Moss gunshot wound with clumsy but determined care.
After that, his stomach growled insistently, reminding him of his hunger.
He decided to tackle their precarious situation on a full stomach, rummaging through the cabin for a hearty meal.
Night fell swiftly.
Moss, who had been shot, developed a high fever and slept fitfully.
After a while, he woke up from a nightmare, with sweat all over his forehead.
He raised his hand to wipe the sweat and suddenly realized that a thick blanket was covering him. Confusion clouded Moss mind.
Was he still alive? His eyes darted to his hastily bandaged wound, the bullet still lodged within him but no longer a mortal threat.
There was only one person who could have bandaged him.
Moss gaze swept the cabin, searching for Melon.
He recalled, hazily, the sound of the boys desperate sobs while he had been unconscious.
The memory stirred something within him.
Soon, he spotted Melon.
There, in the corner of the bed, lay Melon.
The boy was curled up without a blanket, his face flushed as he muttered softly in his sleep.
What do you think?
