Gabrielle looked at me for a long moment before nodding in agreement.

After going downstairs, I was about to hail a taxi back to school when I received a call from Jane.

"Will, the building manager, and a female resident just had a fight, and I think someone got hurt. I'm kind of scared..."

"What?" I was stunned.

I originally planned to return to school first and then deal with the issues at the apartment tomorrow, but things escalated much sooner than expected.

"Jane, stay in your room and don't come out. I'm heading over right now!"

She was always obedient and cautious, never doing anything reckless.

I hung up and immediately called Quintus. As I turned, I saw him standing by a tree in a windbreaker not far from the flower bed, smoking a cigarette. He looked both stylish and cool.

But I couldn't afford to admire him at the moment. I nodded to him briefly before hailing a taxi straight to the apartment.

I had just acquired the building, and if it gained a bad reputation, it would be a huge problem.

I saw those two blond security guards again when I arrived at the apartment.

I ignored them and walked straight toward the elevator.

According to Jane, the incident happened on the sixth floor, next to her apartment. So, I went straight there.

As soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I heard voices from a group of thugs.

"How's the woman?"

"She's still tied up. We had someone bandage her up. Her injuries aren't serious. Let's see if we can find any clues on her. If we find anything threatening, we'll just use it to shut her up. If not, we can take some compromising photos, and she won't dare to speak."

Hearing this made my blood boil. Did these people even care about the law? They

were openly discussing illegal activities in broad daylight.

I reached the door of Jane's apartment, where three thugs were standing guard.
