Chapter 50

Chapter 50 If I've Fallen for Him

Elsa wasn't concerned about me at all. She was just trying to play the victim, hoping Jeremiah would see how bad my behavior was.

I took a deep breath. “I don't want to move back. I'd rather not deal with a saintly figure like you every day as it'll only ruin my mood. But..." I paused, turning to face Elsa as a mocking smille played at the corners of my lips. "If you really want me to move back, then you'll have to l For a moment, Elsa's eyes widened. She looked utterly aggrieved as her eyes grew redder and her body began to tremble.

Jeremiah, no longer trying to hide his feelings, instinctively tightened his grip on her hand and gently comforted her, “Elsa, don't worry. I'll ne she's dying to live with her lover, so there's no way she'd ever go back to live with your family!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Eric scoffed.

"Someone may look all righteous on the outside, but he's already holding hands with another woman behind closed doors. He acts like he c wife, but secretly, he's already messing around with his ex-wife's sister. Isn't that right, Jeremiah?"

Seeing Jeremiah's face turn pale with fury brought me an indescribable sense of satisfaction. Eric's words were sharp enough to cut througl

in the room.

Jeremiah shot us a cold look, then said nothing more. He continued soothing Elsa as he guided her out of the house.

I stretched lazily, feeling victorious as I watched their retreating figures.

"Victory! Looks like I'll need to eat a hearty meal to celebrate my win this morning!"

As I sat down, I realized Eric hadn't moved. When I looked up, I met his gaze, which held a deeper meaning.

I couldn't help but feel my ears grow warm as I recalled our earlier conversation. “What are you looking at me like that for?”

He raised his chin with a glint of amusement in his eyes. "I was just thinking that you're a lot like the old version of Jane."

The "old version"?

I stared at him, confused.

Back then, Eric and Jeremiah were

rivals. He probably didn't think much of me at all. How could he have noticed me back then?

He seemed to read my thoughts, and with a small smirk, he moved to sit across from me. He casually handed me a fork.

“During one of the college's sports

meets, I was in charge of the athletes. You were participating in the long run, and one of the women from your class sprained her ankle. You "Even though you didn't win any awards, I remember thinking that a jerk like Jeremiah didn't deserve someone as loyal as you."noveldrama

I could tell Eric was subtly complimenting me, and I couldn't help but smile.

"Thank you for your kind words. Rest assured, I'll keep striving to be a better person!"

We exchanged a sinile.

The meal passed in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

After finishing, I got up, planning to wash the dishes. After all, he was the one who cooked, and I didn't want him doing all the work. But he t

“I'll handle it. You drank too much last night, so your head must still be spinning. I've set out some hangover medicine on the coffee table. Af feel better."

Watching his figure disappear into the kitchen, I couldn't help but feel a strange sense of déjà vu. Was he really washing the dishes for me?

As I thought it over, I realized that he wasn't just a good person-

he was thoughtful and attentive. If I hadn't fallen for Jeremiah in my past life but fallen

for Eric instead...
