No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric)

Chapter 354

Why couldn't Noelle give Lucas a chance to make amends?

Noelle smiled coldly. "You need to understand you're taking the fall for Xenia. It was Donovan who pushed you out to bear all of this, not me trying to send you in. They wanted you to go, to take on their sins."

Lucas' expression faltered, his lips turning pale.

He choked out, "I really want to make things right with you."

Noelle's disgust was palpable. Why couldn't these people be sincere? Was it necessary for them to pretend all the time?

She turned to glare at Lucas, unable to hold back her anger. "Fine, I'll give you the chance to make amends."

A flicker of surprise crossed Lucas' face. "How?"

"Go confess to the judge."

As soon as Noelle finished speaking, she saw Lucas' face freeze. He quickly averted his gaze, clearly guilty.

So this was what they called wanting to make amends—a fake apology wrapped in insincerity.

Noelle smirked and asked, "What, you can't do it?"

Lucas looked embarrassed. "It's not that I can't do it, but if I go in, how can I make it up to you?"

"You going in is the greatest way to make it up to me. After that, I won't hold anything you did against me. How about it?"

Lucas fell silent once again.

At that moment, Donovan turned around and shouted, "Lucas, what are you standing there for? What's the point of talking to that ungrateful woman?"

Lucas glared guilty at Noelle, then turned and followed after Donovan, his steps heavy with defeat.

Noelle watched him walk away, her expression filled with mockery.

The person in charge approached with a complicated expression. "Noelle, how can your family be so hypocritical?"

There was no real apology, no sincerity in making amends. Everything had to come at the expense of Noelle's interests before any apology could even be considered.

What kind of family was this?

Noelle glanced at her colleagues. "I'm used to it. I know exactly what kind of people they are. Let's go, we should head in too."

She had just messaged Alfred, and he said the lawyer would arrive soon.

With that, there was nothing to be afraid of.

Noelle walked in with her colleagues.

By the time they entered, Donovan and Lucas were already seated, with the lawyer beside them, organizing a thick stack of documents.

Noelle sat down with the person in charge, though the lawyer hadn't arrived yet.

The judge asked, "When will your lawyer be here?"

Noelle replied, "Soon, they're on their way."

Donovan said, "Could it be that they're too scared to come and are stalling for time? Noelle, you can't win this anyway. Why not settle now? What terms do you want?"

Noelle stared at him without responding.

Just then, the door opened. "Sorry, I'm late."noveldrama

Donovan's eyes widened as he saw a middle-aged man with glasses walk in. "Mr. Rodrick?"

Liam Rodrick, known in the legal world as the "The Legal Executioner", was currently the lead attorney for the prestigious Greene family.

How could he be here for a small case like Maple Enterprise?
