Chapter 45 ~ In flames
ATHENA
I march back into the house, my hands trembling, not from fear, but from the rage still pulsing through my veins like poison.
I've never felt this kind of anger before. It's hot, thick, and consuming, like wildfire burning in my chest. I feel like ripping him apart for touching my things.
At first, yeah, I felt guilty, like maybe I did something to deserve all of this. But as I stomp through the halls of this stupid mansion, the realization hits me harder than
ever.
He does whatever the hell he wants.
He sleeps out with Leah, parades her around like she's some prize, and comes home to burn my life to ashes like I mean nothing.
And I? I've been nothing but loyal to this scam of a marriage. Loyal to a man who doesn't know the first thing about love.
Luca raises a brow when I storm past him, but I don't stop.
"Where are you going now, Mrs. King?" he calls after me, smirking like this is some kind of show he can't wait to see the ending of.
I don't answer.
Because in my head, I'm already picturing Alex's stupid face when he sees what I'm about to do.
I head straight to my room, pacing the floor like a caged animal. My chest is tight, my hands still shaking, but I hold it together because I know I'll need every ounce of control for what's coming next.
I don't even know how long I stand there, just staring out the window, thinking of every way I want to hurt him back.
And then, I move.
I walk back downstairs, determined, my mind focused on one thing.
Revenge.
This house is so freaking huge, I swear I don't need a gym. Running up and down these staircases would be enough to keep me fit for life.
As I hit the bottom of the stairs, I spot Luca pulling on a leather jacket, looking like he's ready to head out for the night.
Perfect.
I rush to his side before he can slip out the door.
"Where are you going?" I ask, forcing my voice to sound casual even though my heart is thumping like crazy.
He glances at me, amused. "To my new house. It seems like you two have taken over this one," he smirks. "And I need my space for my special visitors- unless, of course, you like watching."
He winks, and I cringe.
"Yeah, no thanks," I mutter, holding back the urge to roll my eyes.
But then, I tilt my head, pretending to sound curious. "Where's Alex?"
Luca grins, leaning on the doorframe. "In the shower. You could always join him
and make up for your fight. I hear angry sex is a thing."
He laughs at his own joke and finally walks out.
Angry sex.
The thought warms my cheeks, but I shake it off.
I climb the stairs, careful not to make a sound. My fingers graze the walls as I
move, and every step only makes my anger more intense.
I pause outside his door, listening.
The sound of water running tells me Luca was telling the truth, Alex is in the shower.
I push the door open slowly, praying it doesn't squeak.
Inside, everything is in its place. It's all so neat. It looks like no one stays here.
I look around and search for what I need when my eyes land on the side table. There it is.
His car keys.
I snatch them without a second thought, my fingers curling tightly around the metal as though holding a weapon.
I close the door slowly and tip toe my way downstairs. Once I'm sure he didn't hear me, I walk to the front french doors but halt my steps when
I notice the bottle of vodka in the center of the room.
Luca must have left it there. I rarely see Alex drink, and from what I've observed, he's a neat freak so ke wouldn't leave a bottle hanging around.
I grab it like fate just handed me a golden opportunity.
A slow, dangerous smile tugs at my lips.
Perfect.
Without wasting another second, I shove the bottle in my under arm and slip out the doors, careful to close them softly behind me.
The night air hits me hard and cold, but it doesn't cool the anger still burning in my veins.
His precious Mercedes sits in the driveway, gleaming under the moonlight like a trophy he never deserved.
I stalk toward it, my fingers tightening around the keys.noveldrama
"Let's see how much you love this, Alex," I whisper to myself, yanking the door
open.
For a second, I hesitate, staring at the leather seats that probably cost more than anything I own.
He will kill me.
But I'll die with a smile.
pop the vodka bottle open, the
strong scent hitting my nose, andet
veľ
pour it all over the seats, the dashboard, the wheel. I don't stop until the bottle is nearly empty.
I slam the door shut, step back, and pull out a lighter from my shorts.
I flick it once. Twice.
A small flame dances to life, and for a moment, I stare at it, mesmerized. "Don't you fucking dare, Athena." a deep angry voice reaches my ears and I smile. "You're just on time for the show, Mr. King." I respond sarcastically without looking back.
Then, without thinking twice, I toss the lighter right onto the seat soaked in vodka.
The fire roars to life instantly, flames shooting up like they've been waiting for this moment.
What do you think?
