Chapter 2098
Beck hung up the phone with a flick of his wrist, moments after Stella had been escorted away.
He wasn't one to soften easily, least of all for someone like her.
Yet, the cut on his lip stung, tugging painfully with every word he spoke.
Slipping his phone back into his pocket, he stepped out and climbed into his car, just as Dylan rang him up.
"Dinner at home tonight."
"Sure, bro."
Beck rubbed his forehead, feeling nothing but irritation.
This would be a good chance to bring up Stella. Dad and Dylan were still in the dark about Stella not being a true Sanders.
When he got back to the Sanders' residence, Lily caught his eye again.
There she was, perched atop the high garden wall, plucking petals from nearby flowers and letting them drift to the ground.
She'd never known the seasons, nor the simple beauty of falling leaves and blooming flowers, so everything had to be taught from scratch after she was brought out into their world.
In those early months, Beck, on his occasional visits, often heard her barrage Dylan with questions.
"Bro, what's this?"
"And this?"
"What about this?"
Frankly, if it were Beck, he doubted he'd have the patience.
Lily knew only of killing; all else, all common knowledge, was foreign to her.
Why flowers boasted so many colors, why leaves turned red in autumn, why there were creatures in the water.
Everything mundane to the outside world was an unknown to her.
Her world had been confined to researchers in lab coats and test tubes on shelves.
Other than the smell of chemicals, she'd never known any scent.
Especially since she was raised as a weapon, fed raw meat to foster her ferocity,
she didn't even know food needed to be cooked.
All she knew of the world, Dylan had patiently taught her, piece by piece.
For the first time, Beck realized just how patient his brother could be.
Now, as he stood below the wall, watching Lily pluck at the flowers, he called out, "Why are you picking them?"
Lily hopped down, landing gracefully before him, her gaze fixated on the cut on his lip.
After a moment, just when Beck thought she wouldn't respond, she asked, "Did you go mating with someone?"
Beck's face flushed with an instant change of expression, his hand going to his forehead.
"Didn't Dylan teach you that you can't use that word?"
Lily pressed her lips together, silent for a moment, seemingly searching for another term.
But Beck didn't want to hear it, turning to walk inside.
Following behind, her ponytail swinging, Lily had an air of liveliness and charm.
Dylan, busy with work in the living room, looked up as Beck approached. "Where's Stella? I had the share transfer contract ready."
"Bro, no need. She's not one of us."
He relayed the recent events, emphasizing Stella's involvement in Maja's kidnapping.
Dylan's expression remained unchanged as he asked, "And where is she now?"

"Gone."
Lily peeked from behind Beck, innocently chirping, "Brother."
Dylan hummed in acknowledgment, noticing her gesture towards her mouth and then at Beck's.
"Beck got bitten while smooching."
Beck, about to drink water, almost choked on hearing that.
Dylan's gaze finally rested on his lip.
"Got a girlfriend?"
Beck had no desire to explain the bite, "No, some nutcase bit me."
Lily sniffed close to Beck's neck, making him push her away, "Keep your distance."
"What beast?"
Beck's headache intensified, "Bro, maybe lock her up?"
Dylan pulled her aside, somewhat exasperated.
"Lil, go grab something to eat."
Lily, ever the foodie, especially after tasting the outside world's delights, could be easily appeased with food.
She obediently headed to the snack area, quietly nibbling away.
Beck settled across from Dylan.
"We should tell Dad about Stella, keep him from worrying."
"Yeah."
After dinner at the villa, Beck received a text from Dave as he headed home.
【Where did you take Stella?】
Beck couldn't be bothered, having spared Dave before only for Fitch's sake, and now he dared to call again.
He promptly blocked the number.
Late into the night, Dave called from an unknown number.
"Mr. Sanders, Stella had it rough before. Can't you just let it go?"
Beck sneered internally. Stella's misdeeds were her own doing. Why should he let her off?
Besides, by now, Stella must have returned to Jason's side, right? Wasn't Jason looking for her?

Beck hung up, blocking this number as well.
What do you think?
