Chapter 1267
"Uncle Daddy, someone bullied me..."
Yvette threw herself into Elijah's arms and bawled as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"A big bird ate Dree. Bree's gone. Boohoo... Someone bullied me. Uncle Daddy, Daddy, beat him. Ask him to give me Bree back. Give me back..." Standing back up, Willy was stumped when he turned his gaze over to his side. Elijah?
This little girl couldn't be Lauren's child, could she?!
Just as the exciting thought came to him, a wet blanket doused his inchoate enthusiasm as he heard the little girl call Elijah 'Daddy'! He had wanted to ask, but his suspicion was dispelled right then, giving up asking as he nearly instantly concluded she was his illegitimate child of sorts!
Only then did he recall seeing him holding a little girl in his arms during a car exhibition. He said she was the child of a relative. Could it be this little one? She was already so big?
No wonder he thought she looked familiar. So he had seen her before!
Willy walked over.
Holding Yvette in his arms, Elijah coaxed her with rare patience, "Okay, okay, Yvette, good girl, don't cry. I'll teach him a lesson for you and find you another Bree..."
"No more Bree. No more. Wah..."
After giving Willy two feigned punches, Elijah asked, "What are you doing here?"
With that, Willy briefly told him the situation. "I didn't know she's yours. But it's quite dangerous for a little girl to be carrying a snake around!" "Yeah! Tell me about it! But maybe she was born with an affinity to cold things. She found an egg out of nowhere, and it hatched into a snake. She grew up with it and always treated it like a treasure! No wonder she's distraught! This little one is really mischievous; she'll scare you with the snake when she's upset. Good that it's been gotten rid of! Me and... her mom really don't know what to do with her!"
Elijah didn't forget to swing and coax Yvette while he was talking.
"Okay, okay, don't cry anymore, Yvette. I'll buy you a birthday cake later. We'll get your favorite strawberry princess Barbie; how does that sound? We'll go home after eating it; don't tell Mommy, okay?"
They finally parted after chatting a little while more.
Right as she got home, Lauren heard her little one was throwing a tantrum, locking herself in her room, not even eating. With that, she hurriedly got the servants to cook up something light, and she brought it upstairs.
"Yvette, it's Mommy. I bought you your favorite Q yogurt drink. There are red and yellow and many other flavors. I'll drink them all if you don't open your door..."
Lauren knocked on the door and twisted the knob before slowly pushing it open. "Yvette, Mommy's coming in..."noveldrama
She put the food tray down and scanned the room before finding a tiny figure wriggling further in the little tent. "Looks like she's really upset! This girl can really be a stubborn one when she gets mad!" she mused.
Walking over, Lauren sat on the carpet. "What's wrong, Yvette? Will you tell Mommy? Who messed with our sweet baby girl? How horrible of him, isn't it?"
She then took a bottle of yogurt drink out, poked a straw through it, and deliberately made a loud suction noise. "Mm, sour. Mango? Not my favorite. I should throw it away!"
Right as Lauren moved, Yvette looked out only for their eyes to meet, and the little one pulled her blanket and nudged further in again. Smiling, Lauren kneeled again.
"I'm going to go if you're going to ignore me! I won't come back anymore today. I should bring the yogurt drink with me too. Yvette's not going to drink anyway; maybe I should give it to the neighbors..."
Just as she got up, a tiny figure pounced on her. "Mommy, Mommy... Don't go! Wah... Don't you want me anymore, Mommy?"
Sitting cross-legged, she pulled her baby girl into her arms.
"You're my sweet baby girl, Yvette. How can I not want you? Tell me what's wrong. Don't cry. Have some yogurt. I'll read you a bedtime story and tuck you in bed, okay?"
Lauren lowered her head to see Yvette nodding, sucking on the straw right as she gave her the yogurt drink. Then again, a tear hung from the corner of her eye, pouting, looking all aggrieved.
After wiping her daughter's face and fixing her clothes, Lauren kissed her forehead. "Our Yvette is the sweetest child in the world, right? You don't look pretty anymore if you cry. You want to be a
pretty girl, don't you?"
Yvette took another sip as she nodded.
"Then let's not cry anymore, okay?"
Yvette nodded again but then shook her head, suddenly bawling.
"Mommy, Bree is gone! A man let a big bird eat Bree. He even said to eat me. I don't have Bree anymore. Mommy..."
"Uncle Daddy also lied to me. He won't give Bree back to me. Big bird ate Bree. No more Bree. I don't have Bree anymore! Boohoo... I want Bree. My Bree..."
"He said only little witches would raise Bree. Mommy said little witches are bad. He called me a little witch. I'm sad. I like Bree. Boohoo... Mommy!"
Yvette continued bawling her eyes
out as Lauren wiped her tears away. The servants had told her a little about it, but even coupled with Yvette's words, she still couldn't get the entire picture. But she at least understood one thing; Bree was gone. It was either killed or eaten by something; she wasn't too sure.

Holding her daughter in her arms, she felt quite helpless. Personally, she didn't like Yvette keeping a snake as a pet. Though she wasn't afraid of it, it was still quite disturbing. But Yvette loved her pet Bree, and it was a kind of fate anyhow, so she just took it as it was. Then again, what happened that day wasn't all too bad, so she just coaxed her daughter as well as she could.
"Our baby Yvette isn't a little witch; you're the smartest, prettiest, cutest princess! That man only said so

because he doesn't know you. Just like you'd say mean things to Tommy when you didn't like him. You don't do it anymore now that you like him, am I right? So don't be
sad anymore. Bree, well, it isn't eaten. The big bird had just taken it away... Our baby Yvette will miss Mommy; Bree will miss its Mommy too, right? When you miss me, Mr. Driver will take you to me; when Bree misses its mommy, the big bird will take it to its Mommy too! You don't want to separate from me, don't you?
Yvette shook her head and hugged her tight, but she had evidently stopped crying. Stroking her hair, Lauren felt glad.
"So, Bree wants to be with its Mommy. Don't be sad anymore, Yvette. I'll take you to see Bree and its mommy when you're as tall as me, okay?"
"Really, you won't lie to me, right, Mommy?"
"Of course not! My nose will go really long if I lie to you! Has my nose gone long? No, right?"
Picking up the bowl of food, Lauren struck while it was hot.
"So you have to eat up. Eat more, and you'll be able to grow taller, then you'll be able to see Bree sooner!"
What do you think?
