Chapter 1264
One sentence, two simple words, like a needle stuck in her heart. Lauren stopped struggling, and Willy fell silent for a moment. Lauren stopped because of the 'care' he said while Willy fell silent because she did, as well as Cloud's swearing. The scale in his heart seemed to have reached a conclusion, but he still held her tightly.
"That was wrong of me. I shouldn't have doubted you! Don't let it spoil your mood! I'll send you home."
Because of the episode, the two never spoke the entire drive, more or less bothered when they parted.
After that day, Willy became more solicitous to her.
In a blink of an eye, it was her birthday. Intentional or not, Lauren received a vocal-care gift box and a text from him, very much like the one three years ago.
"Tonight, at 7 p.m., Roman Western Restaurant. I have a surprise for you; wear something nice. Don't be late!"
He even chose the same location!
Her frozen gaze was like a glacier crumbling as she looked at the text. Very quickly, she typed a reply.
"OK, I'll dress up and meet you."
Her gut feeling told her he was going to propose to her! Three years ago, her birthday, and now, huh...
Her heart began to throb again. Right then, she didn't know if she was feeling sad for her past self or emotional for her present self.
After locking her phone, she went to wrap up her work and deal with the follow-up.
It was her birthday just as well as it was her baby's. She had always regarded that day as her birthday, even told others the same date as well. But to differentiate Lauren and Tevye, she still changed the date. Then again, it was also baby Yvette's birthday, just as important of a day; she still had to spend time with the little one, who wouldn't stop talking about birthday cakes every day!
After spending a long time outside and even buying many clothes and things, Lauren went home according to the route she had long planned. Then a woman about her shape changed into her clothes and drove her car out. Following that, she pushed open a small gate in her backyard, passed through a narrow path, straight to the mansion opposite, locking the door up forever at the same time.
From that day on, there would no longer be a Miss Luther who appeared in this mansion but a dispensable Miss Luther.
Knowing something was off, Willy especially had people keep an eye on her schedule, much more at ease when he heard she went home after shopping. After personally retrieving the ring from the jewelry store and even getting flowers, he rushed to the hotel, calling her in the meantime. "Sorry, the number you dialed is currently busy. Please try again later..."
He then tried a few times, still busy even by the time he got out of the car; he couldn't help feeling baffled. He first checked out the room and gave some instructions before a thought struck him, checking his watch.noveldrama
I was already seven o five!
Turning around to see the door was still silent, the hint of foreboding instantly surged. Was it going to happen again?
Just as he held his phone up, a server walked in with a bottle of red wine in his hand.
"Mr. Bowels, a Miss Luther called, saying to bring you a bottle of the finest Lafite on time and tell you to sit tight if she still hasn't shown up at seven." "Okay, thank you!"
It was as though Willy had suddenly gotten reassurance as he looked at the chilled wine on the table. Had he only overthought?
He then uncorked it, poured himself
a glass, and savored it. After calming down, he went through the plan from start to finish in his head once. Time ticked by, and just as he was getting impatient, the door of the private room opened. A slim, fair figure in a long white dress showed up like an angel descended from heaven. As she had her back against the light, Willy couldn't see clearly. His head felt a little dizzy as he got up, and the lights suddenly dimmed. By the time he opened his eyes, the unfamiliar face right in front of him had gotten his eyes wide in shock.
He looked at her in disbelief. Isla Luther?
What was going on?
He blinked hard, and his vision seemed to have pixelated. The person before him was Isla for a moment, then Tevye the next, making him somewhat delirious!
Feeling a little dizzy, Willy knocked his head. What was going on? Had he had one too many?
"Tevye..."
As soon as he spoke, a soft voice traveled to his ears.
"Mr. Bowels, don't think about my sister anymore; she doesn't care about you at all! She hadn't only used you to bet; she even sold you for money. She isn't worth it! She's already gone. She doesn't care about you or the Bowels family!"
"I really can't watch anymore! I don't want to see you be deceived by her again, and I can't bear to see you sit here and wait for nothing. Actually, I've always admired you, and my dad originally thought about setting the two of us up!"
"If you don't mind, the engagement between our families can still continue! I'll take care of you on her behalf..."
"Mr. Bowels, please give me a chance!"
Willy couldn't believe what he had just heard. "What did you say?"
"I said she's gone. She had already lost you to me. She has never liked you! You don't know her; she's aloof to anyone, emotionless even! All she wants is money and the piece of land her mother left. Oh, that reminds me, she left you a letter
saying you won't look for her
anymore after you read it!"
As Isla spoke, she pulled out a card and handed it to him. There were only a few words, nothing obscure nor special. She couldn't figure out why Yesmine said he wouldn't look for her anymore after reading the card.
"I am Yesmine Luther but also Lauren Heady. Doesn't feel nice to lose a bet, does it? This is my last gift to you. We owe nothing, never meet again!" And the card even fit the note. It was a broken heart, obviously chipped!
All the foreboding came true in an instant, and Willy burst into tears, scrunching the card as the veins on his hands throbbed.
"Do you really hate me so much?"
So she came back to seek revenge? She was Lauren. She didn't suffer from amnesia; she remembered every single thing. Everything she did, her transformation from head to toe, was to torture him, get even with him, and finally, an eye for an eye, wasn't it?
Laurie?
Just how much did she hate him that she could turn herself into a completely different person?
Why could she never believe he truly loved her no matter what he did? It was her birthday that day; she had probably long arranged to leave with a success that day, hadn't she? She definitely would've found an excuse to see him even if he didn't ask her out, hadn't she?
So, was she going to disappear again?
After composing himself, Willy rushed out of the door...
What do you think?
